au revoir priyam! hello ms kindergarten... NDP celebration - EPIC FAIL! money no enough! olympics begin! woot!
Saturday, August 9

ok so now going against my usual posting style, i shall briefly touch on the events of the past few days, seeing as there are so many things to talk about, and i havent posted much... i still have a post in the making... cos i've been so busy and havent really continued writing on that tribute posting. so anyway, enough of the appetisers and on to the courses!

first up, priyam is leaving! haiz... its such a sad thing lor... i always had a little part of me feeling bad for her when we were all defying her authority, but its now overwhelming me. she had such a bad experience teaching in our school, and all her classes, especially .11 drove her over the edge and now she wants to leave the school. just tells you how terrible we are eh...

homage to priyam
she had the heart of a teacher.
passionate,
a desire to impart knowledge,
a true desire to teach.
but she had with her one thing that brought her down:
the voice of a mozzitone.
it was as if the air she breathed,
only consisted of helium.
even dogs couldnt hear her,
much less her students.
no one ever took her seriously.
her lesson was invaded with, among others-
guitar tunes,
students pretending to see students in her class,
students leaving her class till only 1 student was left,
having the class locked with lights off, while students were really inside.
it was all a pitiful sight.
even the best of students,
gave her crappy lessons,
giving her bs whenever she asked her questions.
themes of hinduism, and our wonderful knowledge of the thesaurus,
she all swallowed with hesitence,
along with the staple: "VERY GOOD!"
but at least it was better than silence.
"can you go back to your seats?",
"who didnt bring their books?",
"can you tell us what this means?";
questions that frequently came up in lessons.
and to the latter, one ever replied,
"no."
she was a poor frail creature.
as the days flew by, her students climbed all over her.
they all saw the look of sorrow on her face,
but they didnt care a penny.
finally it was too much.
she could do nothing,
but to ditch all and run,
and all was done.

isnt is strange how you start to realise how good a teacher was after they stop teaching you? like in sec1, the whole class hated panthrax. but in year 2 we realised how great a teacher she was. no, not just cos of the contrast laurence provided, but for how we still remembered what she taught us. and now that priyam is going off, i realised how she really had a heart of gold. she tolerated all of our bad behaviour throughout her teaching, and you could really see she was trying to teach. till a few weeks before she left, when she herself lost her hope in humanity. now i just feel bad for being so bad to her, along with the class :S she hated our classes so much, that when she took my dramamate for IOC, she told him, "if only i was teaching your class, instead of just testing your class..." so sad!

so now that shes leaving, we got this teacher from millenium institute, whom ryan has christened "loser of the millenium". my goodness, such a childish teacher should be teaching kindergarten. she has like dunno how many class rules, and has lame punishments along with them, including putting your finger to your lips, raising up your hand for the rest of the lesson, and standing to face the wall at the back of the class. lame sia... looks like theres worse to come...

moving on to ndp celebrations in school. in the morning we mapped out the perimeter of singapore on the astro turf... but it seriously looked more like a curry puff. and the teachers organising it were all like, "dont mess it up! its BEAUTIFUL!" well the uyo awards were as mundane as every year. a total bore. this year had no kong to pass notes with, so i did the most obvious thing to do: sleep. of course candy and glynn were on the lookout for sleepers, so they were like checking front and back. so if anyone was leaning forward, or leaning back over the chairs, they'd get people to wake them up.

so eugene, who was sitting next to me, slept in the usual sitting position, and never got caught heh. so seeing his wonderful example, i followed suit. i was sometimes updated with the proceedings by ryan tan, on the other side of me, who somehow didnt seem to sleep throughout the whole thing. a couple of times eugene slept on my shoulder to get a different position... so i was like super still during these times cos i dont wanna wake up a sleeping beauty. though he sometimes slid off my shoulder haha. i continued sleeping upright lah. but then once, i stirred to find himself resting on a soft velvety surface. i opened my eyes, only to realise it was eugene's hair! thank goodness jeng yang dint get a pic... wah, in all the times eugene's slept on my shoulder (including chapel), thats the first time i fell asleep on his head... lol. his hair too nice liao. only one that can compete is asher lim. the only 2 non-weird lefties i know :P hehe. oh wait, i forgot tim koh... that makes 3 then.

then during the pledge, i said it in a totally leech accent, and then the silly .8ers kept looking back at me! tsk tsk tsk! i can quote leech, "thats for mocking someone who bothers to speak PROPER english!" then during the singing of the national day songs, there were a whole group of eccentric dancers on stage, doing weird actions lol. i dont see the need for actions :P but the songs were nice of course, even though i'm not sgean.

after that went to watch money no enough 2 with mart and nalanji at vivo. so fun with both of them :P like zhi tong dao he. then the first thing we saw at vivo was CANDY EMPIRE! hahaha, so funny, thanks to dear candy ong :P nalanji and i took pic with the huge logo, though the pic turned out quite poorly, due to some *ahem* mediocre pic taking skills of a certain someone :P

well on to the movie. the movie was really good. funny at parts, with the message hitting home very effectively. so sad lor, they go and dump the old ah ma at a lao ren yuan. the old woman act so well too. so caring for the children, putting up with all their nonsense, and still try to please them. she really looked to pitiful and pathetic when she was alone. then they still throw her at lao ren yuan. haiz. then the end so drama, got one woman try and snatch a blood bag lol. dint know hospitals so lao ya, let commoners just come in and snatch blood bag XD but the old ah ma just sacrifice herself for her granddaughter... a whole life of sacrifice for her loved ones and only appreciated when she's gone. poor thing! anyway i think i spoilt it a bit alr... better not talk too much.

the final thing i wanna talk about: olympics! wah, i've been hooked on olympics the whole weekend. so sad i cant watch as much when school resumes. the sports that i usually catch are swimming, women's volleyball, synchronised diving, gymnastics. those are my total fav events! among those that are going on now lah... later will have track then i'll be hooked on that too. anyway, i doubt singapore will be winning anything these olympics. another of what we call an EPIC FAIL! i wonder which country will be tops... so fun!

AMEN;
